Practicing a Biblical Sabbath - Moreland City Salvos

The Lord has placed on our hearts the need for a Biblical Sabbath. This is something that needs preparation and thought, it is not a Day OFF! It is a time for us to seek God and just be with Him. It means all work - paid and unpaid - needs to be put aside for the practice of Sabbath. The word Sabath comes from a Hebrew word that means "to rest from labour." The word holy means something that is sacred or dedicated to God. "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work." Exodus 20:8-10 In this season it is easy for everything to just blend into one. Many of us have felt overwhelmed with learning to live this new way. So we need a buffer of a Sabbath to get back into a rhythm with God. Sabbath is a twenty-four-hour block of time in which we stop work, enjoy rest, practice delight, and contemplate God. We have provided this prayer exercise for you to use as part of your contemplation this Sabbath. Follow the prompts in the video and do as follows: Breathe IN the love of God. You need it today. And then breathe OUT the love of God. Because the world needs it today. Repeat. The Bible says "the BREATH of the Almighty gives me life" (Job 33:4). Dedicate at 5 minutes to this prayer exercise today as you rest.
