This opera was written in November 1981 and has been languishing in drawers, gathering dust since then and has only recently been recorded, at the insistence of my daughter, and put on a double CD in anticipation of this one-off stage performance. Putting it on stage has simply been a goal of mine for the last 42 years. This has been a journey of musical discovery for myself, and it has been my great pleasure to work with several local artists and musicians in the making of the CD and who will also be performing the opera on stage.

               A Journey into Time – A (soft) Rock Opera

Inspired by the music of Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen and more, this 24-song rock opera will take you on an interstellar journey through space, time and within yourself. 

From being launched on a Saturn V rocket, your mission takes you past Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, to the outer reaches of the Solar System beyond the planet Uranus, further than any interstellar traveller has been, where you are suddenly transported, through a wormhole, to a new world in a different solar system and different time. You are trapped in this new world, which is made of glass, along with other similarly trapped interstellar travellers from other solar systems. You resolve to escape and find your way back to Earth.

Music is the source of your liberation but, once freed, you find that you are unable to get back to Earth and must continue your journey of discovery in a new solar system. Each song uniquely progresses your journey as you encounter obstacles along the way, in space and within yourself, and overcome them with music, ultimately being the salvation of your soul.
