The misuse of alcohol and other drugs can have a damaging impact on individuals, families, and communities and that’s why we are here to help.
Our goal for you is to see you living life in its fullness and thriving. To support this, as well as addressing problematic substance use, we encourage you to find a sense of belonging. That may be by nurturing or repairing family relationships or friendships, or establishing connections with your community. We will also support you to pursue your education or employment goals.
Our commitment to you
The Townsville Adult and Youth AOD Services are just minutes from Townsville's CBD and The Strand and are located on Wulgurukaba and Bindal land. The services operate a 10 bed residential withdrawal (detox) unit for mild to moderate withdrawal, where participants generally stay for seven days. Participants have their own room with a shared bathroom.
The Adult service offers a 52-bed residential rehabilitation program for men and women over the age of 18, where participants stay onsite and complete a three-month program. Participants have their own room in shared accommodation.
Participants can access pre-treatment support in the community and post-treatment support upon exit from the withdrawal management unit or residential program. Transitional support is provided through one-to-one support, including case management, education and referral.
Townsville AOD Services have established relationships with an array of external service providers. An individual goal plan will be created at the beginning of treatment and will remain a live document through the duration of the program. This plan will identify those services which will further support an individual’s journey during the program and post-treatment.
Townsville AOD Services aims to provide opportunities for participants to further strengthen their connection to community and engage in healthy social activities, including offsite outings. Art and craft activities are regularly run onsite. There is a swimming pool, a pool table, table tennis, and a recreation hall for basketball, volleyball, cricket and indoor soccer.
