This course will provide you with a broad range of administrative skills, suitable for entry level administration positions. It is a great foundational course for people returning to an office job after a long break, for young people entering the workforce for the first time, or for those wanting to transfer from another occupation into an administrative or customer service role.

With the Certificate III in Business you will learn how to assist teams to stay organised, create professional looking spreadsheets and business document, improve your computer functions and learn how to offer quality customer service.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, you will be required to complete a pre-enrolment evaluation, in order to determine your ability/capacity to successfully complete the course.

The Certificate III in Business (BSB30120) is a competency based course which will require 13 units for the qualification (6 core units and 7 elective units).

Assessments will be conducted for each unit of competency through a mix of assessment methods, including practical demonstration, projects, questioning and case studies.

Students will receive clear assessment instructions and an opportunity for resubmission of assessment will be provided if required.

We also offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and/or Credit Transfer (CT) for students seeking formal acknowledgment of skills and knowledge attained through previous experience and/or training.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - if you are experienced in any aspect of this qualification and can demonstrate competency, this can be acknowledged as RPL and provide credit toward the qualification.

Credit Transfer (CT) - if you have previously attained an AQF (Aust Qualification Framework) competency unit which is included in this qualification and can show evidence of this with a Statement of Attainment, a CT can be granted immediately.

Application for RPL or CT must be advised on the Enrolment Application.

Students who successfully complete certificate III in Business (BSB30120) can progress to Certificate IV in Leadership and Management(BSB40520), or to Certificate IV qualifications in other service industry fields.

Eligibility - Smart and Skilled program

This course is subsidised by the NSW Government under the Smart and Skilled Training Program.
To be eligible you must be:

  • an Australian Citizen/Perm Resident/NZ citizen/humanitarian visa holder
  • aged 15 years or older, and
  • live or work in New South Wales, and
  • no longer be at school or equivalent


If you meet the above eligibility criteria for the Smart & Skilled Training Program the course cost is as follows:

  • Exempt: Fee-Free
  • Concession: $240
  • If no prior post school qualification: $1,320
  • If a post school qualification has previously been completed: $1,580

Course cost includes course resources.

Limited fee free scholarships are available for eligible students who are 15-30 years of age and either a Commonwealth Welfare recipient or the dependant of a Commonwealth Welfare recipient.

Students with a disability or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are also eligible for a fee exemption. Evidence of eligibility for a fee exemption will be required.
