Good morning!
There has been a lot of new information this week about the Coronavirus and how we need to respond to this pandemic. There will be signs up at both our sites that states The Salvation Army’s precautionary measure, in line with the governments advice.
You would have heard on the news that large gatherings are to be cancelled… we don’t quite fit in that category but we are going to take our own precautions. This is particularly important as we have a number of people at our corps who would vulnerable to the impact of the virus.
Tomorrow, Sunday 15 March, we are cancelling the prayer groups that were meeting throughout the day, there will be no morning tea, and there will be no 11am worship.
There will be 9.30am worship and children’s activities [extra care will be taken].
We suggest that if you are currently having treatment or about to, or just generally are frail, please stay at home. If you have been travelling to the countries listed as hot spots please stay home.
We are unable to purchase sanitisers so please restrict what you touch and be diligent in keeping your hands clean, mouth covered etc.
The other advice is to keep over a metre away from others – so we will need to refrain from hugging, hand shaking, etc.
Although it might feel like we are being over-cautious with these measures, we would prefer to be over than under, so the wellbeing of the corps community remains a priority.
There is still an opportunity for you to use this day for prayer… expanding the prayer points to include those affected by the virus albeit in their health or in their livelihood, in their workplace or community.
Please pass this information on to anyone you know who isn’t on our email list or Facebook.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we try to do what’s best at this time.
Keep praying. Keep safe.
Love Sharon
