16 October 2014
Greetings in His Holy Name.
As Salvation Army Officers, Deborah and I place ourselves in surrender to Christ's leading within this part of His Holy Church, The Salvation Army. He leads and we follow. It's our calling. It's our life.
We have received 'farewell orders' from being the Parramatta Corps Officers to commence new appointments in January 2015: Deborah as the Assistant Training Principal and Academic Program Officer and Alwyn as the Director of Spiritual Formation, Stage 3 Training Coordinator and Non-Residential Training Officer, all at the School for Officer Training. We will also have additional appointments as Executive Officers for the Sydney Staff Songsters.
It's with mixed emotions we are leaving Parramatta Corps. We've sought the Lord, trusted, risked, made mistakes, learned a great deal, loved and celebrated, cried and agonised. We believe this corps has a great future, rising from a proud past, that Christ is calling you towards. And our leaving is greatly comforted by an excitement that Grant and Sharon Sandercock-Brown will be your new Corps Officers in 2015. We have a Holy Spirit confidence they are God's leaders for the next step towards His desired and greater future for you. We firmly believe that the best is yet to come and truly excited for Parramatta Corps. This excitement gives us hope and faith as we now prepare to depart.
In light of the appointment announcement, this Sunday's "where to from here" gathering has been postponed. Grant and Sharon are well aware of the corps' journey so far and will gather the congregation in 2015 for further discussion.
finding FREEDOM,
Al & Deb
