As of 12 January 2017, the Red Shield Defence Services welcomed a new Chief Commissioner - Major Brett Gallagher.
Chief Commissioner Major Brett Gallagher
I was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer just over 25 years ago and was appointed to the role of Chief Commissioner, RSDS, in January 2017.
I am not sponsored by a unit, but rather ADF HQ. In this role I work closely with Army HQ, 1 Division HQ, Forces Command HQ and Joint Operations Command HQ. Basically all of the higher headquarters.
I was deployed on OP BUSHFIRE ASSIST, as well as making a one week visit to OP ACCORDION in the Middle East.
Although I work in the office most of the time, the opportunities to get out in the field and spend time supporting serving members is what gives me most joy in this role. Also knowing that the role we play at RSDS NHQ means that many serving members have the joy of having an RSDS Rep serve them.
I can be contacted on 0466 655 098 or email rsds-nhq@salvationarmy.org.au
