Good Morning!
You have been linked to this web page because you or your child expressed an interest in volunteering for the Ryde Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal Doorknock this weekend!
Please see below for all of the details regarding what’s involved:
- The Red Shield Appeal will be held on Saturday 26th May and Sunday 27th May. Your child can participate on either of these days (whichever is more suitable). Feel free to arrive anytime between 8:30am - 11:30am on either day.
- To participate they need to get to our ‘Collection Base’ which is located at Unit 5/112 Talavera Road, Macquarie Park. There is parking available on site and it is also a short 5-minute walk from the Macquarie Shopping Centre and the Macquarie University Train Station. - Upon arrival your child will be registered and then will watch a short safety video on how what to do and what not to do
- They will also be given the contact number of TSA Staff to call if they get lost or in the case of an emergency.
- If alone your child will be attached to a group of other young collectors and together they will be dropped off to their ‘collection zone’, which is a clearly mapped area from which they literally knock on doors to receive donations.
- Once they have completed their ‘collection zone’ they contact the TSA team who then pick them up and return them to the ‘Collection Base’ where they count the money raised, bank it and are given their ‘certificate of volunteering’, and also fed a free BBQ Lunch.
Whilst your child is very welcome to participate on their own it is always much more fun with a group, so we would encourage them to bring along a friend, family member or group of mates to collect together.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us!
