Thank you for supporting Homelessness Week events

Let's continue the work together and end homelessness for good.

Thank you to everyone who supported The Salvation Army Shepparton's national homelessness week events.

  • On Wedensday 7 August, 71 homelessness sector representatives, people with lived experience of homelessness and concerned community members attended the End Homelessness for good forum at GOTafe.
  • An estimated 100 people took part in Walking Home by joining together to walk around Lake Victoria in Shepparton to raise awareness of homelessness as concern for healthy community.

Read about Shepparton's Walking Home in SheppartonNews.

This year The Salvation Army's call, "end homelessness for good" emphasises that as we work together as a sector there is the possibility of real change, and that ending homelessness is good for for the whole community, not just those who experience homelessness. Shared concern was evident in the attendance of Ms Kim O'Keefe MP (state Member for Shepparton), Mr Peter McGrath (The Salvation Army's Homelessness State Manager Victoria, Majors Kelly Walker (The Salvation Army Northern Victoria's Area Officers), as well as representatives of many community service organisations.

Thank you too to The Salvation Army's Emergency Services (Bendigo) team who prepared a Sausage Sizzle for participants, and Krueger's Fine Meats and Smallgoods and Market Meats in Shepparton who donated the sausages.
