Get Involved with the Salvos this Christmas
It has been another difficult year – even more so for those already experiencing hardship. Here are some ways you can help us make sure we leave no one in need this Christmas.
Ways to get Involved
Volunteer this Christmas
Volunteering is another way you can give this Christmas and we would love your help. Be part of supporting vulnerable families to celebrate Christmas in their own home with the dignity of a festive meal and presents for their children.
VOLUNTEERS FOR HAMPER SORTING AND PACKING IS AT FULL CAPACITY!
Thank you to our community and partners! We have been overwhelmed with the number of volunteers who have signed up to pack and sort our food and toy hampers this year. For this reason, we are no longer in need for any further help in this space.
Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal – Australia’s largest and longest-running gift collection appeal – is back again, to help make Christmas and New Year a bit brighter for those experiencing hardship.
Locations: Southgate Shopping Centre and Miranda Westfield
Choose a practical gift that can be useful beyond Christmas time and deliver it to the Express Drop Off point outside your local Kmart store, or leave it under the Wishing Tree in store.
Some suggested gifts you can choose from:

Fundraising Ideas
Have you been looking for a way to share the Christmas spirit with your family, friends, colleagues, church or sporting club? This year, you can host a fundraiser – in-person or online and raise vital funds for individuals and families in need.
Here are some ideas to get you started;
- Give up your Christmas presents – This year, ask your loved ones to donate to your online fundraising page instead
- Host a fundraising event – You can create a fundraising group to collect funds or start an online fundraiser if you aren't able to meet in person
Whichever way you choose to raise funds, know that your efforts will help bring joy and some cheer to those facing financial hardship or isolation this Christmas.
