Get your school involved with The Salvos

Introducing young people to concepts of social justice early allows them to inform their own values, lets them know they’re part of something bigger and inspires them to get involved. By developing an appreciation of the world around them, young people have an opportunity to learn that, whatever they’re going through, they’re not alone.

If you are looking to get involved by volunteering, Red Shield Appeal and Christmas are the best times to do so as there are many opportunities for group volunteering. Please contact Joel Campbell (joel.campbell@salvationarmy.org.au) to explore ways to get engaged.

Your school has the opportunity to support the work of The Salvation Army in a number of ways.

Fundraise

Giving is a feel-good thing. By fundraising for us you can spread that feeling around. You can help us, help people who come to The Salvation Army for assistance every year.

Even if you're not able to donate money, there are a number of ways you can help us raise the funds we need to deliver our programs. The best part is, you can use your imagination and choose how you would like to contribute.

Organise your own fundraising event

At school you can hold an event such as a Salvos' School Red Day, a sausage sizzle, a school concert, a cake stall, or anything else you can think of. Feel free to invite a representative from Shire Salvos to come and speak at your school to promote the event.

Red Shield Appeal

Our Red Shield Appeal is held every year during the month of May. Students can participate in a number of different ways.

Volunteer 

Join as a volunteer and collect via a doorknock or at a collection point on the Red Shield Appeal Weekend, each year in May.

Digital Doorknock (online fundraiser) 

Register your school to our online fundraising page. Your school can participate as a school wide fundraiser and/or students can sign up as individuals.  

Red Day

Host a Red Day where students come to school wearing something red for a gold coin donation.  Find out more here

Christmas Appeal

Our Christmas Appeal takes place in December every year. Your School community can participate in a number of different ways. Find out more here.

Salvos Schools

Salvos Schools NSW and ACT provides educational workshops and opportunities for school students to engage, learn and make a difference in their local community. Aligned with their curriculum, the following programs will engage students and school communities in social justice education and introduce service-learning with The Salvation Army.
