Camille Kaukereit, our Family Store Manager, is to co-ordinate a car wash next Saturday, June 3, in the car park outside the store in Hayward Street, Stafford, to raise funds to support her entry in this year’s MS Brisbane to the Bay bicycle ride.
She and her team are to be washing vehicle exteriors only – in the car park outside the store between 9 and about 1pm – “for a donation".
The MS Brissie to the Bay event has been part of the Brisbane cycling fundraising landscape for more than 30 years. Camille is to be among the thousands of riders to take part next month.
The event raises awareness and funds to help change the lives of Queenslanders living with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions.
Camille said that, until last year, she was only a loyal supporter of a friend who rode in the event to support his brother who has MS.
"I decided last year that I would start riding, too, instead of being a spectator so this will be my second year riding," Camille said.
Camille has a facebook fundraiser page but believes a car wash would be a better way to raise funds.
"The car wash will be by donation so people can pay what they like," Camille said.
Joining her on the hose and sponges will be her son and a friend "so we will be able to do 3 cars at a time if we get busy".
Camille said drivers could "pop into the store to check out the bargains" while waiting for their car to be washed.
